Residential Dumpster Rental in Pasadena, CA — PTT Dumpster Rental Pasadena

Homes across Pasadena and the surrounding San Gabriel Valley range from narrow lots near Old Pasadena’s historic core to wider properties pushed up against the foothills in Altadena and La Cañada Flintridge, and driveway width, gate clearance, and grade all change block to block. PTT Dumpster Rental Pasadena runs every delivery out of our yard on Fair Oaks Ave in Altadena, and before a container leaves the lot we ask about gate width, driveway slope, and exactly where the truck should set the box down, so delivery day doesn’t turn into a puzzle solved on the spot.

A roll-off keeps a home project contained in one place instead of scattered between the garage, the curb, and repeat trips to the transfer station. Whether you’re clearing a single room, gutting a bathroom, or emptying a house ahead of a sale, we’d rather put you in the container that actually fits the job than the biggest one on the lot.

What we handle on residential dumpster rental jobs

  • Fits driveways, side yards, and gravel pads across Pasadena, Altadena, and the San Gabriel Valley
  • 10 to 40 yard sizes for anything from a garage purge to a whole-house cleanout
  • Delivery windows built around your schedule, Monday–Friday 7am–6pm and Saturday 8am–4pm
  • No permit required for placement entirely on your own property
  • Flexible rental length so a weekend project doesn’t turn into a race against the clock
  • Clear weight-limit guidance before delivery, not a surprise on the invoice
  • A local crew that talks through sizing on the phone instead of steering you to the biggest box

Sizing a Container for a Home Project

A single-room cleanout, a garage purge, or a small bathroom gut usually fits a 15 yard container. A kitchen remodel, a multi-room purge ahead of a move, or a downsizing job with furniture and boxes coming out together tends to land in a 20 yard — the size most of our residential customers end up booking. A full home renovation or a house-wide cleanout does better in a 30 yard, so you’re not scheduling a second drop-off mid-project. Still unsure? Our size guide walks through it, or just describe the project on the phone and we’ll steer you to the right box.

Permits: Your Driveway vs. the Street

A container that sits entirely on your own property — driveway, side yard, gravel pad — needs no permit anywhere we deliver, and that covers most residential drop-offs we handle. Permitting only comes into play when the box has to sit in the public right-of-way. Inside the City of Pasadena, that means a Storage Container Application processed through the City’s own Public Works Department via its online mypermits system; no flat fee is published, so call ahead and we’ll help you confirm current requirements before delivery day. In unincorporated Altadena — where our yard itself sits — street placement instead requires an LA County Public Works Drop Box (Roll-Off Bin) Permit, processed through the County’s EPIC-LA system, and only County-approved vendors can place a bin in the right-of-way there. Each of the other incorporated cities we serve — South Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre, La Cañada Flintridge, Arcadia, Monrovia, Glendale, and Temple City — runs its own separate permit process through its own city government, so we never assume one city’s rules carry over to the next. See our permit guide for the full breakdown, or just call and we’ll tell you which office applies to your address.

What Can — and Can’t — Go In

General household debris, old furniture, flooring, cabinetry, drywall, and yard trimmings are all standard in a residential roll-off. A handful of items are not. California law bans all types of batteries — AAA/AA/C/D cells, button cell, 9-volt, rechargeable packs, and lead-acid batteries alike — from regular trash and household recycling bins under the state Department of Toxic Substances Control’s Universal Waste rules, and CalRecycle’s own list of banned trash items keeps TVs, computer monitors, printers, and similar electronics out of the dumpster too. Fluorescent tubes and LED lighting, paint and solvents, motor oil and filters, and any asbestos-containing material also stay out; asbestos in particular always requires a licensed abatement contractor, never a roll-off. Full detail is in our guide on what can go in a dumpster in California.

Protecting Your Driveway

A loaded 20 or 30 yard container carries real weight and can leave an impression on pavers or press into softer asphalt over a long rental. We can lay planking under the drop point on request, and our drivers leave enough clearance around the box to swing the rear doors fully open, which matters more than it sounds like on a tighter in-town Pasadena lot.

Cleanouts During Altadena’s Rebuild Phase

Parts of Altadena are now well into rebuilding on lots cleared after the January 2025 Eaton Fire, one of the most destructive wildfires in California history, and that current work generates a steady stream of ordinary construction and renovation debris — framing offcuts, packaging, drywall scrap — as new homes go up and nearby properties handle smoke-related repairs. We size containers for that rebuild-phase work the same way we would any new-construction job. We do not handle fire or ash debris removal from destroyed structures; that work is legally hazardous and is coordinated through official government cleanup programs, not a private dumpster rental. Broader wildfire and Santa Ana wind season, roughly September through December, is also when we build extra scheduling flexibility into our routes for general property cleanup across the foothill communities we serve.

FAQs

Residential Dumpster Rental questions, answered

Do I need a permit to put a dumpster in my driveway?

No. Placement entirely on private property — your driveway, yard, or gravel pad — needs no permit anywhere in our service area.

What if the dumpster has to sit on the street instead?

Inside the City of Pasadena, that requires a Storage Container Application through the City’s Public Works Department via its mypermits system. In unincorporated Altadena, it’s an LA County Drop Box (Roll-Off Bin) Permit through EPIC-LA, and only County-approved vendors can place a bin there. Every other city we serve handles its own street-placement permit separately. Call us and we’ll tell you which office applies.

How long can I keep the dumpster?

We work around your project timeline rather than forcing a fixed rental window. Tell us roughly how long the job will run when you book and we’ll set expectations up front.

Can I put batteries, electronics, or appliances in the dumpster?

No. All battery types are banned from regular trash under California DTSC Universal Waste rules, and TVs, monitors, and similar electronics are barred from the trash under CalRecycle’s own list of banned items. Ask us and we’ll point you to a proper drop-off option.

Will a dumpster damage my driveway?

A loaded container is heavy and can leave an impression on softer asphalt or older pavers over a longer rental. We can lay planking under the drop point on request — just mention it when you book.

Do you deliver the same day I call?

Often, yes, if you call early in the day and a truck is free on your route — see our same-day dumpster rental page for details. Otherwise we’ll get you on the schedule for the next available slot within our regular hours.

Can you deliver to homes in Altadena that are rebuilding after the fire?

Yes. We regularly size containers for new-construction debris on rebuild lots in Altadena. We don’t handle fire or ash debris removal from destroyed structures — that work goes through official government cleanup programs — but for ordinary rebuild-phase construction waste, we’re glad to help.
